INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 cup heavy cream

⅓ cup maple syrup

½ teaspoon Kosher salt

½ teaspoon espresso powder (optional)

10 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips or finely chopped bittersweet chocolate (60–70% cacao)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

RECIPE NOTES

Rich bittersweet chocolate and pure maple syrup come together in this silky fondue, made entirely in the Alpine Signature Fondue Set. A touch of browned butter adds a subtle nutty richness that pairs beautifully with the maple and chocolate. Serve warm with skillet pancake bites (also known as Kaiserschmarrn, a traditional Austrian dessert), crisp fruit and toasted brioche.

INSTRUCTIONS

Place the Alpine Signature Fondue pot on the stove over medium-low heat. Add the butter and cook until melted and lightly browned, 2–3 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream, maple syrup, salt, and espresso powder, if using, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is hot and just beginning to steam. Do not let it boil.

Remove the pot from the heat and add the chocolate. Let stand for 2–3 minutes, then whisk until smooth. Stir in the vanilla.

Transfer the fondue pot to its stand and light the burner. Keep warm over the flame, stirring occasionally, until ready to serve. If the fondue thickens as it sits, whisk in a splash of warm heavy cream until smooth.

Serve warm with skillet pancake bites, sliced apples and pears, toasted brioche, marshmallows or your favorite seasonal fruit.
