Perfect Pull-Apart Breads for Sharing

Pull-apart breads are the perfect sharable snack, and are ideal for parties, holidays and family get-togethers. Also known as monkey bread, tear and share bread, or bubble bread, small or thin pieces of dough are layered, rolled or stacked and baked together to form a pre-portioned loaf. Adaptable to both sweet and savory ingredients as well as a variety of loaf shapes, they’re a fun and interactive treat for guests to tear apart at the table. Here are some of our favorite pull-apart bread recipes.

buttery garlic knots fresh from the oven

Garlic Knot Pull-Apart Bread

Garlic knots started as an ingenious way to use up scraps of leftover pizza dough, and are a delicious nostalgic flavor. Nestling them together in the Signature Everyday Pan makes for knots that have plenty of nooks and layers for the garlic butter and parmesan cheese that goes both in the filling and on top to create tons of flavor in every bite. To assemble the knots, simply wrap the dough around two fingers a few times and tie a simple overhand knot. If you are making pizza and have some dough leftover, feel free to use the scraps for the knots and serve alongside a bowl of red sauce for dipping.

cheesy bread spirals in a bread oven

Croque Monsieur Monkey Bread

Inspired by the timeless French sandwich, the comforting flavors of a Croque Monsieur are the star of this delicious monkey bread. Another style of pull-apart bread, monkey bread gets its name from the way you eat it – small sections of bread are pulled and pinched off the loaf, similar to how a monkey eats. In this recipe, the ham and cheese are folded into and between the dough for maximum cheesiness perfectly balanced by the saltiness of the ham and savory notes of fresh thyme. Baked in the Bread Oven, these rolls make a great option for a holiday or slow Sunday brunch.

icing topped cinnamon rolls in a cast iron braiser

Cherry Cinnamon Rolls with Orange Goat Cheese Glaze

Cinnamon rolls are the original version of a pull-apart bread, and probably the recipe that most are familiar with. The basic recipe involves a soft, slightly sweet dough that is filled with all manner of ingredients, either sweet or savory, and then rolled up like a jelly roll so that every swirl contains a bite of the delicious filling. In this recipe, a tangy goat cheese glaze tops these pillowy, gooey cinnamon rolls, while dried cherries give them a festive touch. Make the rolls in the Noël Collection Snowflake Braiser for an easy oven to table holiday breakfast.

powdered sugar dusted monkey bread

Morning Bun Monkey Bread

Our friend and chef partner Jennifer Latham shared this delicious monkey bread recipe from her latest book Baking with Kids (reprinted courtesy of Ten Speed Press). The gooey-sweet combination of sugar, orange zest and cinnamon are irresistible, especially when eaten warm right out of the oven. The technique for making monkey bread is a little bit like a cinnamon roll, but with less fuss. Simply stack and fill a Bread Oven with the sugary, buttery dough balls so they bake together into a layered treat. Get the kids involved to help roll the dough to create the most delicious pull-apart bread the whole family will enjoy.

freshly baked dinner rolls in a bread oven

Soft Dinner Rolls

A classic recipe for a reason, pillowy dinner rolls are the crown jewel of the holiday table and a must-have recipe in every cook’s collection. Warm, soft and buttery, our dinner rolls are snuggled together and baked in a Bread Oven so the tops are beautifully golden-brown, while the sides remain soft and extra fluffy. Bring the warm rolls straight to the table so guests can pull-apart pieces for swiping up gravy, or as the foundation for a layered bite of everything else on the plate. The best part is that these rolls will stay soft for days, so they’re also perfect for making leftover sliders the next day.
