About Enamel on Steel Stockpots
A workhorse in the kitchen, the tall straight sides and large capacity of Stockpots make them ideal for stocks, soups, stews, chili, steaming shellfish and corn, boiling pasta, making jam, sous vide cooking and even for chilling beverages. Le Creuset’s best-selling enamel on steel Stockpots are crafted from lightweight carbon steel for our fastest-heating performance. That means they quickly bring liquid to a boil, and also retain heat to keep food warm for serving.
Our enamel on steel Stockpots are glazed with a vibrant porcelain enamel that coordinates with the iconic colors of our enameled cast iron cookware. Durable and easy to clean, the smooth enamel is non-reactive, non-porous, and resists stains, rust, scratches and flavor absorption. A tight-fitting lid ensures that moisture stays inside the pot, and the heat-resistant stainless steel knobs and triple-welded looped handles ensure safe movement.
Le Creuset Stockpots are finished with a stainless steel rim to prevent chipping and cracking, and some even come with an elegant gold-tone knob and rim, like in our Agave, Olive and Chambray collections. Compatible with all cooktops and available in sizes ranging from 6 to 16 quarts, enamel on steel Stockpots are an essential piece of cookware for all manner of kitchen tasks.

Inside the kettle, convenient markings note minimum and maximum water fill levels for easy filling. Chip-resistant, non-reactive, resistant to stains, and easy to clean, the colorful porcelain enamel coating ensures that every cup tastes perfect. Kettles also make excellent gifts and are a beautiful way to add a touch of Le Creuset color to your stovetop and kitchen.

Enamel on Steel Cooking Tips
Here are a few tips from our test kitchen experts about Le Creuset enamel on steel stockpots and kettles:
- Enamel on steel stockpots and kettles are compatible with all cooktops, including induction. They are also refrigerator and freezer-safe as well. But note that they’re not suitable for use in the oven or microwave, or on an unregulated heat source such as a barbecue, grill, open fire, wood burner or pizza oven.
- Wooden and silicone tools are best to use to prevent scratches and chips. Also when stacking or storing the pieces, it’s a good idea to use something like Cookware Protectors between the pieces.
- Never place enamel on steel stockpots and kettles in the dishwasher. To clean, simply hand wash with warm, soapy water and always dry thoroughly. To avoid scratching or damaging the enamel, we recommend using nylon or soft, non-abrasive pads or brushes.
- For more stubborn residues, staining or discoloration, fill the stockpot or kettle with warm soapy water or baking soda and allow it to briefly soak to soften the residue and make it easier to remove. Just don’t leave the dish submerged in water for extended periods of time.
- The enameled surface is non-porous so it’s ideal for short-term storage of cooked or raw food. But prolonged storage of acidic food and beverages may eventually dull the surface, however this does not affect the performance of the piece.
- Remember to remove all water from kettles when they’re not in use, and be sure the inside is dry before it is stored away.
