Skillet Cast Iron Product - Features and Benefits

      ENAMELED CAST IRON

Since 1925, Le Creuset cast iron has been recognized for its strength and durability. Cast individually in sand molds, then hand-inspected by French artisans, each piece represents a rich heritage and continues a tradition of lasting, authentic design.

      Heat Retention

Cast iron distributes heat slowly and evenly over the entire vessel, making it ideal for all forms of cooking, whether slow-cooking, roasting, searing, stir-frying or baking.

      Smooth Interior Enamel

The glass-like finish in our ovens and braisers promotes caramelization, resists staining and prevents sticking to make cleanup easy.

      Black Interior Enamel

The black interior of our skillets is specially formulated for high-temperature cooking, and does not require seasoning.

I've always had cast iron cookware(25+yrs). I started my own LeCreuset collection at my local outlet store one pc at time. Now I buy pieces for my daughter and niece. Yes they can be a bit pricey but used properly my grandkids will still be using "Big Daddy's" cookware when I'm gone. If you are not used to cooking with cast iron they even have a book for that. My niece called to say thanks and to keep em coming as she has fallen in love with her new TOOLS.

Lambasting a Le Crusset product is difficult for me... I wanted this pan badly, have two regular cast iron pans and the wife got me this for Christmas 2013. Returned the first one due to a spikey bottom that was almost pitted. Got another one after a LOT of hassle, and I keep getting food stuck to the bottom and it's hard to clean. There's build-up on the pan and it DOES NOT perform like regular cast iron.

I feel bad writing this, excellent brand, wife was so happy to give it to me, but it just doesn't work well. Maybe I got the only two bad pans?

Just wanted to put this out there. This is seriously expensive for a pan that's supposed to last a lifetime, be careful of significant disappointment. It's worse for me because my wife was so proud to give it to me.

If this were a $30 product it would have been in the trash. Due to the price I keep trying to make it work, hoping I'm using it wrong and I'll figure it out.... but no, this is a bad pan.

It's not me, it's you Mr. Pan... sorry.

Comments about null Signature 10 1/4" Iron Handle Skillet:

This pan is, without a doubt, the most used piece of equipment in my kitchen. There's no meal I cook that I don't reach for my Le Crueset. This 11 3/4" size is generous and will accommodate a large recipe easily. Mine is about 5 years old and has a lovely patina. I always cook with a bit of oil or butter, and that is key. You can't cook oil-free in cast iron, even enameled. You will have a mess, for sure. You don't have to use a lot, though. I've even used my smaller 9" pan on the grill and it works wonderfully. Be sure to have a good oven mitt handy, though. To clean, I use a bit of soap, and a sponge with a silicon scrubber so I don't scratch the surface and only use wooden utensils when cooking.

Comments about null Signature 10 1/4" Iron Handle Skillet:

Best searing pan bar NONE. Use it like a regular cast iron pan and let it develop that patina LC talks about; your pan isn't supposed to look like it came from the factory forever. Performs as flawlessly as all their other cast iron pieces. The clear enamal is not as shiny/smooth as the many coated white interior pots and pans in order for it to sear better, and it does. Deglaze the pan during cooking for best results, but if you don't, simply soak after it's cooled and gently wash. I use this for everything from French toast to breaded fried haddock. Love that you can use soap and soak if necessary, unlike non-enamaled cast iron (which will rust).

This skillet rocks! My hubby gave it to me last Christmas, and now I'm buying one for my daughter this Christmas. Only takes medium heat to perfectly fry a pound of bacon. I find it really easy to clean, drain the fat and add some hot/warm water while the pan is still hot and it's practically nonstick. It is huge, so don't expect your average size skillet!

Comments about null Signature 10 1/4" Iron Handle Skillet:

A long time ago I had a bit of trouble cooking eggs in my first LC skillet. The store manager at the Dawsonville, GA outlet store explained to me that I needed to heat the skillet slowly to a medium heat and add a bit of oil or butter - she said that the sticking was due to an overheated pan. Since then, I haven't had a problem with sticking in any LC pan. I also find that once you cook meat such as bacon in any LC skillet it significantly speeds up the process of making them virtually non-stick.

This piece exhibits the quality that we miss from the good ole days. It does what an iron skillet should. Is Beautiful and garners many compliments. The second handle works great considering the weight. Is easier to clean than most iron skillets I have used so long as one takes care to keep the surface seasoned between meals. This will travel through family generations.

Comments about null Signature 10 1/4" Iron Handle Skillet:

I have a small collection of other Le Creuset cookware and bakeware, and yes, it is pricey, but so worth the cost! It was because of my prior experience with Le Creuset that I bought this skillet, plus I was also looking for a small skillet (surprisingly hard to find) and this fit the bill perfectly. It is ideal for cooking single servings or small quantities and, unlike other small skillets I've owned, is weighty enough so it doesn't wobble around on the burner (which is so annoying!) I use it for frying eggs, which turn out beautifully, sautéing onions or small quantities of veggies, toasting a slice of bread or nuts, reheating soup for lunch, all those little things that you hate dirtying a big pan for. I'm not sure what was wrong with Jeff's pan (see the 1-star review) but he should have just returned it to Le Creuset. They stand by their product and would have gladly helped him, I'm sure.

We use this skillet to cook everything. It is worth the money as an investment in your health since you need less oils, etc., to cook, and is also something you won't need to replace if it is cared for properly. No sprays are required and anything that gets "stuck" in normal cooking is easily removed with a little soaking and then careful scrubbing with a fabric cleaning cloth and salt. Ta da! Perfect clean up after perfect cooking.
