      ENAMELED CAST IRON

Since 1925, Le Creuset cast iron has been recognized for its strength and durability. Cast individually in sand molds, then hand-inspected by French artisans, each piece represents a rich heritage and continues a tradition of lasting, authentic design.

      Heat Retention

Cast iron distributes heat slowly and evenly over the entire vessel, making it ideal for all forms of cooking, whether slow-cooking, roasting, searing, stir-frying or baking.

      Smooth Interior Enamel

The glass-like finish in our ovens and braisers promotes caramelization, resists staining and prevents sticking to make cleanup easy.

      Black Interior Enamel

The black interior of our skillets is specially formulated for high-temperature cooking, and does not require seasoning.

Comments about Le Creuset Heritage Tart Tatin Dish:

Expand your thinking and view this as much more than a specialty baking dish!! Yes, it's perfect for traditional tarte tatin or Pommes (Potatoes) Anna. But it is also ideal for searing a smaller portion of meat or chicken on the stove top and finishing in the oven. I use it for pork tenderloin that I slice in half to fit. So happy that I added this to my cookware collection.

I love all things Le Creuset. I have owned their products for 25 years and still have a lot of my original pans.
This pan is a nice depth with nice handles. Great for stove top or oven.

Comments about Le Creuset Heritage Tart Tatin Dish:

I love the size. It's a one-layer cake round but much more fun than a typical layer cake pan. I thought about this for years before buying. I love the handles; nice and big so it makes it easy to turn the tatin over without burning wrists or hands. I've used it mostly for various desserts but I've done dutch babies, rolls, and meats in this pan as well.
The only negative I can think of is that I would like it just a bit deeper - no more than a quarter to half inch at most

Heritage Tart Tatin DishLegend has it that this beloved dessert originated in the kitchen of the Tatin sisters, who operated a hotel in the French town of Lamotte-Beuvron. While making a pie for guests, one sister mistakenly placed the prepared apples in the dish first. She decided to lay the pastry crust on top, and turn it out after it finished baking. The result was unusual, but delicious, and it became the signature dish of Hotel Tatin.

Named for this famous French upside-down apple tart, the enameled cast iron Tart Tatin is a capable alternative for a variety of recipes like pizza and quiche when used in place of a conventional pie dish.

          Features
          • Inverted handles for flipping the dish to release contents
          • Shallow design for baking traditional pastries, pies and quiches
          • Even heat distribution and superior heat retention
          • Durable, nonreactive sand-colored interior enamel
          • Colorful, long-lasting exterior enamel that resists chipping and cracking
