        This was a impromptu purchase. I have gotten so much use from it. I ditto the meat loaf use as I have made several and they turned out beautiful. I also use it for bread. I line it with plastic and use it as a soap mold as well.

        The one and only pan to use for meatloaf. My families favorite meal is meatloaf and we have it at special occasions. My kids are grown and gone but when they come home I am warned ahead of arrival, meatloaf dinner! That of course includes green beans and mashed potatoes. But seriously, this is the perfect cooking and serving dish. Makes slicing meatloaf easy and put the cover on and it stays warm. There are no leftovers so I don't need to store it in the fridge. My daughter now wants one of her own so off I go looking for Le Creuset's CAST IRON terrine for her. She can then make me meatloaf.

            I received this pate terrine from my aunt when my cousin (her son) passed on. I was delighted to receive it and cherish it in his memory. I would imagine that it is over thirty years old now. Le Creuset has been consistent in the design and construction all these years as I have compared new ones in the stores to my heirloom.

            I recently made a traditional French terrine of pork, veal, and liver and the pan performed perfectly. I used it in a water bath (baine-marie) and the pate cooked very evenly with no scortching whatsoever thanks to the cast iron construction. Clean up was a breeze, all I had to do was soak it in warm water for a few minutes and lightly scrub it with a non-abrassive pad. This terrine is the real deal, and the design is the classic French terrine. I am proud to have this in my kitchen.

            Heritage Pate Terrine with PressTerrine dishes are traditionally used to compact a forcemeat mixture like pate (the resulting form is also referred to as a terrine). Le Creuset’s classic design includes a weighted press that molds the mixture from all sides, removing air pockets that can ruin a terrine’s delicate texture. As the meat cools, the fat within it begins to set, helping the terrine hold its form.
