        Bought this from a local store for a great price, and as usual with all LC products, never disappointing. I have already made 5 rounds of Paella in the pan, and in fact used it for frying items on a large scale. The Paellas that came out of this pan were phenomenal, specially you get that perfectly amazing crunchy crust of the rice layered at the bottom. You can use the pan even for braising and sauteing, and for multipurpose uses.

            Update. I discovered that I can use the lid from my 13Qt round for the paella pan. At next use, I'll post a picture at Le Creuset Love! I really love that the lids are so interchangeable. I use lids from other LC cast iron pots for all of my skillets too. Another great reason to make the investment in LC.

            I know, a traditional Paella Pan has no lid and that a lid would make this a much more expensive item. But since I'm using this Paella pan for all kinds of other things, I'd just like to have a lid. Also a lid would make it better for storing food - even Paella. (Years ago, I bought the cassoulet pot version with the lid). Still gave it 5 stars for it's use as a paella pan. I love using it and I receive lots of compliments on it!

            Searing, sautéing, pancakes! So many great uses for this pan due to its large surface area. Fits perfectly on my large burner. Heats evenly and cleans up perfectly. It's become my new favorite pan and the fact that the seasoned surface is pretty much nonstick what more could you ask for?!?! Well a lid would be great. That's my only complaint but I understand the name implies you shouldn't need one. I still think a lid would work great for paella but that would make this pan cost a bit more.

            Paella PanPaella, a rice dish that originated in the Valencia region of Spain, is named after the pan in which it is cooked. Different regions of Spain add varying meats and vegetables, but no matter the ingredients, the identifying mark of a good paella is the socarrat, a layer of toasted rice at the bottom best achieved in a wide, shallow pan.

            Le Creuset’s heat-retaining cast iron aids in the development of this crust, as does the matte black enamel interior. The large surface area keeps the rice layer shallow and allows excess moisture to evaporate, so the socarrat can form.
