My classic kettle was used frequently with heavy use and we had well water not distilled.
When using this product for over 3 yrs noted that it had rusted near the inside spout, and that the inside was dull and when wiped there was a grey residue on the paper towel.
I wrote (emailed) the company and recieved a prompt response - next day. And was told how to go about returning the kettle. It would have to be inspected but if my complaint was deemed legit then the kettle would be replaced.
I sent it back and was given a tracking number on my return to use when refering to my return - I returned my kettle during the holiday season when a delay would occur in dealing with it - I didn't mind. Whenever I inquired on it's replacement - I was sent prompt email reassurances from Customer Relations(same person) that it would be replaced and that it had in fact been looked at and deemed a legit return.
I cannot say enough good words about Mernice Savage in Customer Relations who is gracious, professional and kind in getting things made right on a warranty. I recieved my new kettle today and hope to enjoy many years of use. I do know that if there are issues that they WILL be resolved with this company! Thank you LeCreuset!

In response to the con comments: If water sputters at the boil you are over-filling the kettle; it's only 1 3/4 quarts--add only 1 quart to allow for expansion. Also, before you pour, remove from heat and give the kettle a gentle swirl. This will wet the hot dry upper areas of the kettle. If you don't swirl before pouring, the boiled water will come in contact with the dry areas and will sputter when you pour. Further, if you pour while the boil is still active, of course it will pour like boiling water. Swirl and allow the boil to subside. This shouldn't take longer than a minute or two. Give yourself and the kettle some quiet time. Don't be in such a rush. You're dealing with the laws of physics; there is nothing wrong with the kettle. I've used mine for many years.

Comments about Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle:

I have used this kettle everyday since I purchased it. This is a great kettle. I love the kiwi color. It looks wonderful in my kitchen. The lid is tight, the handle stays cool, and I have NEVER had any issues with pouring out hot water or any other issue. I am so glad that I took the plunge and bought this to add to my Le Creuset collection.

Comments about Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle:

I spent a long time reading reviews online trying to find a good everyday use kettle. It seemed that every single model and brand had significant terrible reviews, including this one, so I never ordered one.

I was in a Le Creuset store by chance and this kettle was on sale so I grabbed it. I'm so glad I did.

I've been using it for over a year and it's still perfect. It's honestly astounding that so many people have trouble with this kettle. My assumption is that all of them must be leaving their kettle on the burner at HIGH for way too long and damaging the product.

I set the burner to 3/4, turn it off when it starts whistling, wait a few seconds for the water to settle and NEVER have a problem pouring or with the handle being hot.

          Would definitely recommend.

Comments about Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle:

I use this kettle almost every day for tea, cocoa, or oatmeal. It boils quickly, has a clear whistle, holds enough water, and is beautiful. I have never had a problem with spilling water all over the counter; it pours nicely. Maybe I don't have a problem because once it whistles I turn off the heat and then get either my bowl or mug out then pour the water. I give my kettle and the water inside a chance to stop boiling and settle. This is the most used item I received from my wedding registry and I love it. Every once in a while, usually if I can't get to the kettle soon after it starts whistling, the handle will get hot. That only happens when it has been whistling for over 5 minutes because I had to finish something before getting to my stove.

Comments about Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle:

I am an every day tea drinker. I have never had a cup of coffee in my life. Tea kettles are important to me and this is the best one I ever owned. I only fill it halfway and set the flame at medium. As soon as it whistles (typically quietly), I turn off the flame and let it set for about 5 minutes. It pours perfectly. It is wonderful that it is enamel on steel on the inside. I was most sur prised to read any negative reviews.
Enjoy a great cup of tea!

I recieved this kettle as a gift and I love it. We only use it to boil water and have had it for just over a year. I dropped it and it has a small chip in the bottom, but has not affected the performance. I hand wash mine after each use and have not had any rust or other things inside. I am going to purchase one for a close friend because I love mine so much. I would like to mention how stylish and lovely it is, I keep mine on the stove all the time.

I have loved this tea kettle for two and a half years. I think it is beautiful and love how it functions. Today I discovered something that concerns me. The color inside the bottom of the kettle seemed off. I don't actually look inside very often, so I'm not sure how long this has been an issue. I rubbed a paper towel across the inside and it was covered in black residue. This kettle has never been heated dry, although I have left water to sit in it from time to time. Could that be the cause? I contacted the company today, mainly to see what they thought might have caused the black gunk and if I should be concerned about having consumed water that was boiled with it. I was given a propmpt response about returning the kettle for assessment.
